Mature Movies and Children's Books

I was instantly drawn to The Black Swan, starring my favorite, Natalie Portman, when it came out in 2010.  I enjoyed it as I watched it my sophomore year, because Natalie Portman is my favorite actress, the story, itself, is intensely intriguing and complex, and I have always had a deep affinity for films that achieve cinematic significance.  However watching it again tonight I picked up some knowledge that I felt like sharing, partly because I have nothing to blog about and also because I feel these are some important topics.  Because Nina has schizophrenia (which I am very sympathetic to), her situation does not apply directly to most audiences, but here are some things that I think everyone can take out of the film.

1) The Self vs. Self Struggle- don't be held back by yourself.  Don't be held back by others, but especially not by yourself.

2) Move On- don't leave your family behind, but leave home.  Find out who you are and don't be afraid to venture out there and try new things.

3) "Don't Trust a Hoe"- like the 3OH!3 song says, just don't do it.  Hoes are not the kind of people you want to party with.  You can't trust them.  Especially don't do it the night before anything important.  Duh!

As I said, I don't really have much to blog about tonight.  I slept through a class, went to class, had Tiff's Treats (that was actually very exciting), ate lunch, took a nap, ate dinner, went to class, and watched a movie.  I also read, which I guess I can talk about since one of my goals is to "read everything!"  I am caught up on all of my school work, so I get to do some reading this week that is purely for fun and entertainment.  Instead of reading a new bestseller or something which has achieved literary merit, I am reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.  It's good, it is, but it would not be my first choice.  I am reading it for two reasons.  One, I bought a bag at BookPeople (if you have not been there, you have to go) with an illustration of the book.  I didn't want to be a phony; therefore, I felt obliged to read the book.  Two, Christina absolutely loves everything pertaining to The Wizard of Oz, so I thought I might as well read it right away.  I started it this summer without finishing it, but I've started it again from the beginning and am determined to finish it by the end of the week.  I'm thirty-eight pages in, so I think I can do it!

Goodnight everyone!  I should really be saying, "Good morning," since it technically is morning.  Also, most of you won't be reading this until the reasonable morning hours, anyway.
