THE TEST WAS AWFUL! The topics that the questions were based on were topics I felt very comfortable with, but writing six pages over two questions in 50 minutes is pretty fucking difficult. I've taken the SAT, AP Lit Test, and taken plenty of dual credit tests with timed written sections and had plenty of time to write every time, but six pages is a lot to write! I don't even think my hand functions that fast! By the time I was finished, both my hand and my shoulder were cramping. The hand was normal, but I've never experienced that kind of tension in my shoulder from writing. But, I'm going to try not to stress about the test and move on. I'll do better next time! That's right, positive thinking :)
The FIG meeting was pretty interesting today. I think we have finally evolved beyond ice breaker meetings. Today, our mentor brought in our Expressive Culture (Anthropology) professor and teaching assistant to talk to us about they're undergraduate experience and how they arrived at this stage in their education/career. It was great getting to know them better and learn about what kind of research they're participating in.
As for the writing of my Banned Books and Novel Ideas paper, I came up with a fairly useful way of motivating myself to write: one paragraph of The Book of Martyrs = 10 images on Tumblr and one page written = 5 minutes on Tumblr. Yay Tumblr!! I guess it's not incentive enough considering I'm now blogging instead of writing my paper, but I needed more than a five minute break after writing the second page of my paper and before delving into the more intense portion of my lit analysis. Yay Tumblr! Yay Blogger!
When working on an assignment, for me anyway, there is an inevitable degree of procrastination, and I just felt compelled to share this diagram on procrastination. I think/hope most of you can relate.
If any of my fellow figgers are reading this, keep on writing- YOU CAN DO IT!
