Today was a pretty mellow day. I only had one class, in which we shared our rough drafts for peer revision... I did finish my essay in time! Then I went to the writing center to take advantage of my resources. The best thing about today, is that I got hooked on another show: SCANDAL. It's great and I have a few easy weeks coming up in my classes, so I think I'm going to take advantage of these weeks and watch the first two seasons on Netflix.
I didn't know what to blog about tonight, so I kept asking Sara what I should write about. Her response, all 17ish times, was, "ME!" So here are a few fun facts about my roommate.
1) She loves owls.
2) She is a mermaid.
3). She doesn't like marshmallows.
#throwbackthursday Orientation with Sara |
Because I didn't really want to write an entire blog about Sara, I asked my friend, Isaiah. He suggested that I blog about wanting to learn another language, which inspired what is to follow. One of the goals I've been mentioning is to know a little bit about everything, but I didn't say anything about what I want to learn.
1) I want to know the origins of words.
I'm taking a class right now, English Words and Their Origins, which should be helping me to learn the origins of words. However, I hardly learn anything in there though, so I guess I'll have to pursue this one in some other way.
2) I want to know multiple languages.
I took three years of Spanish in high school and I learned a ton of Spanish. I can read it okay and can speak it a little bit (it just takes me a little while to respond), but I can't understand it while people are speaking it. Regardless, it's been a while since I've been in Spanish and I'm starting to forget stuff, so Isaiah, is going to start talking to me in Spanish so I can practice. I'm not sure what I want to learn after Spanish, but I think it's important that I finish learning it before I start on anything else.
3) I want to know the history of art: painting, music, fashion, opera, all art.
I've been working on this one for a while, especially the history of painting and classical music. Opera is next.
4) I want to know all about the Tudor Dynasty.
I have watched too many documentaries about Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, but I don't know enough about Elizabeth. Tomorrow I'm going to a lecture with Isaiah on the Tudor Dynasty, though, and I'm super excited.
